I’ve never been a Strat guy, but sometimes I do need the surf guitar vibe and this provides that. It was a floor model from a Florida music store which had been kicked over by a clumsy customer and a small paint chip got knocked out of the doggie dick red headstock (which was easily touched up with nail polish). They were letting it go for $150 or something, a deal too good to pass up.

I left this mostly stock, but had my guitar tech replace the 5-position selector with a 3-position and do the Reggie Young style “Memphis wiring” (the middle p/up is wired to a second volume knob). The Leo Fender-designed vibrato is very smooth, and reacts well to the .10-.46 gauge NYXL strings. All in all, a fine Strat-style guitar, made in Indonesia but somewhat better quality than some “Freddy Fender” Mexi-Strats I’ve played, and is more than ready to rip out “Apache” at a moment’s notice.
