Banjo neck, Dobro body = DoJo. Think “Diesel On My Tail” by Jim & Jesse (played by the great Allen Shelton). It has a cool, mellow tone when played acoustically, but when plugged in it gets a sound similar to the Rickenbacker Bantar that Douglas Dillard used on The Monkees’ “What Am I Doing Hanging ‘Round,” especially through the JangleBox. I had my guitar tech add a volume knob on the lower bout. I’ve used this on a lot of sessions the last few years. I have an artist relationship with Gold Tone; they’re good folks and have a cool line of “Folkternative” instruments that you should check out.
